Job Description:

As a Power BI Report Developer, you will be responsible for creating and maintaining business intelligence solutions using Microsoft Power BI. You will collaborate with data analysts, business analysts, and other stakeholders to understand their data requirements and translate them into interactive and visually appealing reports and dashboards.

Roles & Responsibilities:

The responsibilities are detailed below: 

  • Develop Power BI reports and dashboards for the College Success, Finance, HR, and Executive domains.
  • Build and optimize semantic models in Power BI / Fabric (DirectLake and Import modes), including relationships, hierarchies, calculation groups, and DAX measures.
  • Translate KPI definitions and wireframes from the Requirements Specification Document (RSD) into production-ready visuals with full traceability.
  • Implement Row-Level Security (RLS) and Object-Level Security (OLS) aligned (Business Users, Power Users, Super Users/Admins).
  • Optimize report performance through query folding, aggregations, incremental refresh, and DAX tuning; meet defined SLAs for load and refresh.
  • Partner with data engineers to refine Gold-layer datasets and resolve data quality or modeling gaps.
  • Support deployment across Dev → Test → Prod workspaces using Fabric deployment pipelines and Git integration.
  • Conduct UAT sessions, capture stakeholder feedback, and iterate reports through certification.
  • Produce report documentation: KPI definitions, measure dictionaries, user guides, and operational runbooks.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Analytics, or related field.
  • 4+ years of hands-on Power BI development experience, including at least one enterprise-scale deployment.
  • Strong DAX skills: time intelligence, calculation groups, variables, and performance tuning.
  • Proficiency in Power Query (M) for data shaping and transformation.
  • Experience building semantic models on Microsoft Fabric, Azure Synapse, or comparable cloud data warehouses.
  • Working knowledge of star schema modeling and Gold-layer consumption patterns.
  • Experience implementing RLS/OLS and workspace governance in Power BI Service.
  • Strong visualization design sense; able to translate raw KPIs into clear, actionable dashboards.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; comfortable presenting to business stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Microsoft certifications: PL-300 (Power BI Data Analyst), DP-600 (Fabric Analytics Engineer).
  • Experience with Microsoft Fabric DirectLake mode and Lakehouse-based semantic models.
